Every procedure is performed in our QUAD A-certified ambulatory surgery center in Fort Worth by board-certified specialists using advanced imaging guidance and minimally invasive techniques. Most patients are home the same day.

AV Fistula Creation
An arteriovenous (AV) fistula creates a connection between an artery and a vein, usually in the arm, for long-term dialysis access. Fistulas offer excellent blood flow and the lowest risk of complications. We perform this outpatient procedure with local anesthesia and mild sedation for your comfort.

AV Graft Placement
If a fistula isn’t possible, an AV graft may be used to connect an artery and vein with a soft synthetic tube. Grafts provide reliable access for patients with smaller or damaged veins. Our team determines the best access type based on your unique vascular health.

Dialysis Catheter Insertion & Exchange
For urgent dialysis starts or temporary access, we place tunneled dialysis catheters in the chest or neck. These procedures are ultrasound-guided and completed under local anesthesia. We also perform catheter replacements, removals, and repositioning.

Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) Catheter Placement
Patients choosing peritoneal dialysis receive a soft tube placed into the abdominal cavity for home-based treatment. Our team ensures correct placement and provides post-operative instructions to help you start PD safely.

Fistulogram and Access Evaluation
A fistulogram uses contrast imaging to assess blood flow in your AV access. If narrowing or blockages are found, angioplasty or other corrections can often be performed the same day.

Angioplasty and Thrombectomy
We use angioplasty to widen narrowed vessels and thrombectomy to remove blood clots in fistulas or grafts. These image-guided procedures are fast, effective, and performed without general anesthesia.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Before:
Pre-op instructions are provided. No general anesthesia required.
During:
Procedures last 1–2 hours. Most patients return home the same day.
After:
Post-op guidance is given, and results are shared with your nephrologist.
